Gambling Commission Cancels License for Online Poker Sites

An online poker card room, Full Tilt Poker, launched by a team of poker professionals in 2004, has found itself in deep trouble, after its gambling license was suspended by casino regulators on the British Channel Islands, stopping the company’s online card games.
The Alderney Gambling Control Commission also issued a statement, clarifying the reasons of suspension of the license of the online poker company. It was stated that a full scale investigation has been launched against the company officials, who have been indicted in New York for bank fraud, money laundering and other crimes.
Online poker is illegal in the United States under a 2006 law, which prohibits the monetary establishments to process the payments involved in the online gambling. The associates of the company carried out their business by disguising the monetary transfers through online sale and purchase of products like golf balls and flowers.
The company was already in trouble in the US and now the gaming commission of Great Britain has also suspended its license and a court hearing will take place on July 26 in London. The commission revealed that the information regarding the illegal activities by the Full Tilt Poker came from a website, PokerScout, which tracks online poker traffic world wide.
A couple of other online poker sites, Poker Stars, and Absolute Poker, are also experiencing similar problems and facing legal battles to retain their online gambling license.
