College Footballer Michael Floyd makes a plea deal for a DUI charge

American football wide receiver, Michael Floyd, who currently plays for University of Notre Dame, was sentenced to one year probation and will have his driving license revoked for 90 days after pleading guilty for the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
This was the third drunk driving charge against the wide receiver, who is considered as the best future prospect of the game in college football. The third offence could have landed him in a state penitentiary for one year but the plea deal saved him and he got away with one year probation only.
The 21-year-old footballer was also fined $200 and was also ordered by the St. Joseph County Judge to visit to a Victim’s Impact Panel and share some time with people, who have lost dear family members to drunk driving. The Judge also ordered him to have a breathalyzer installed in his car so that he could not start his car with high blood alcohol level.
Michael Floyd has been currently suspended from the team but the coach of the team, Brian Kelly, has allowed him to take part in the voluntary summer workouts with the team so that he might possibly claw back into the squad.
The legal council of the footballer, William Stanley, said to the reporters that Floyd was regretful and he was undergoing alcohol counseling since his arrest and has also been doing other community service, which was not made mandatory by the court.
