FBI Classify Insane Clown Posse Fans As A Gang
Welcome to CRWE Newswire News Update, Im Christina Collins.
Fans of the Detroit-based hip-hop group, Insane Clown Posse, also known as the Juggalos, who paint their faces like their heroes, have been classified as a violent, fast-growing “gang” worth monitoring by the FBI.
The Juggalos are in the Bureau’s 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment report as a “non-traditional gang.” The report classifies the Juggalos among “hybrid gangs” such as the Latin Kings and the traditional ethnic-based Asian, East African and Caribbean gangs.
Camille Dodero, writer for the Village Voice, gave a firsthand account of a Juggalo gathering in rural Illinois when she ran a cover story last year. Dodero thinks the recent “gang” classification is “ludicrous,” and said, “It’s like classifying New York Giants fans as a gang because people have committed crimes while wearing New York Giants hats.” “This whole gang thing is an allegation the Juggalos have been dealing with for years. It’s just strange the FBI has decided now to add them to their roster, when the Juggalos have actually been getting the best press in the last 18 months than ever before.”
