Tuesday a senior Iranian official told the Russian news agency that Iran will be presenting new advancements made on its nuclear program on Wednesday, by loading domestically the indigenously made nuclear fuel into the research reactor in Tehran. The RIA news agency of Russia presented a story from Tehran in which it quoted Ali Bagheri as saying that the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will also attend this event where a nuclear reactor which is currently running out of the nuclear provided to it by Argentina in 1990s.
This step by Iran is probably planned to signal the world that the increasing tightened sanctions are unable to deter the Iranian resolve and technical progress and also to convince the Islamic Republic to come back to the negotiating table in talks with the Western nations.
Many diplomats have expressed their belief that the Islamic Republic had in the past sometimes overrated its nuclear activities so that it could get some leverage in its negotiations with the Western nations, who are already suspecting that Iran is actually developing a nuclear weapon in the disguise of a nuclear program for peaceful purposes. However Iran has always strictly denied these allegations. The story presented by RIA also gave some details and it was not made fully clear whether the report was referring towards the announcement made by Iran last month and testing of fuel rods for usage in the nuclear power plants.
On Saturday the Iranian President said that Iran would very soon be announcing new advancements made by it in its nuclear program. With every passing day the stand-off over the Iranian nuclear program is getting complex with Israel and United States warning of a possible attack.
