Iranian Suspect of Attack on Israeli Diplomats was Fleeing to Iran, Says Malaysia

The Malaysian authorities have detained an Iranian national who is suspected of his alleged role in the bomb plot targeting Israeli diplomats in the Thai capital, Bangkok. On Tuesday, Bangkok was rattled by the bombings, and the detained Iranian is among the three suspects of the bombings. This has escalated the campaign against Iran of having been involved in a terror campaign against Israel. Late Wednesday, a statement was issued by the chief of Malaysian police, Ismail Omar, which said that the suspect was arrested by authorities in the capital, Kuala Lumpur.
The statement read that the Iranian suspect was detained under the Immigration Act of Malaysia, out of the intelligence provided by their counterparts in Thailand. Currently, he is being interrogated related to the bombings which took place in Bangkok. On Thursday, the government said that the Iranian national who was arrested in Malaysia for his alleged involvement in the bomb attack in Bangkok, was trying to escape to Iran when he was arrested. Malaysian Home Minister, Hishammuddin Hussein said that the arrest of Masood Sedaghet Zadeh at the Kuala Lumpur International airport is indication of the strong and serious Malaysian commitment towards addressing the issue of terrorism.
He said in a statement that the Malaysian authorities will never allow anyone to make Malaysia a base, location, or transit point for terrorists or any of those individuals who are wanted by any other state. He gave no other details other than the confirmation that the 31-year-old Iranian suspect had fled to Malaysia and was suspected in the botched Thai bomb attack.
