The Obama administration has adopted a tough line against leaks, filing charges against those suspected of disclosing classified information.

But news reporting suggests government officials continue to reveal secret details to journalists in an attempt to shape policy.

And it’s all a charade, when the Bush administration leaked secret information about the CIA agent Valarie Plame; nothing was done to prosecute anyone in regard to the leak. Scoter Libby was prosecuted for lying to the government, and then the leak went quietly away. The only one harmed was Plame.

On March 6, 2007, Libby was prosecuted and convicted of obstruction of justice, making false statements and two counts of perjury, his sentence was commuted and he would spend NO time in jail, there was never a criminal prosecution of Bush’s Mentor Karl Rove who actually was responsible for the leak. And although there was ample grounds to impeach Bust, that was off the table thanks to Nancy Pelosi

The Wilson’s attempted to obtain some semblance of justice, but their efforts were thwarted by the US courts. On July 13, 2006, Joseph and Valerie Wilson filed a civil lawsuit against Rove, Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Richard Armitage for their alleged role in the public disclosure of Valerie Wilson’s classified CIA status. Judge John D. Bates dismissed the Wilson’s lawsuit on jurisdictional grounds on July 19, 2007; the Wilsons appealed. On August 12, 2008, in a 2-1 decision, the three-judge panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld the dismissal. The case is in the review process to the US Supreme Court, however that court is anticipated to also rule in the Governments favor.

All this leaves a simple question, where has justice gone to in America? When Government can freely over ride the rights of the people, without recourse, the Government is no longer legitimate.
