In a meeting with Indian National Security Advisor, Shivshankar Menon, US President Barack Obama has reaffirmed his commitment to building a true global, strategic partnership with India.
Last week, Obama dropped in as Menon was meeting with his American Security Advisor, Tom Donilon, at the White House reflecting his focus on strengthening the India-US relationship.
The White House said in a statement released on Sunday that the president joined the meeting and reaffirmed his commitment to building a true global, strategic partnership with India. It said that the president relayed his priorities for the upcoming years, including advancing the bilateral economic relationship and making progress on nuclear security efforts.
The White House said that Donilon and Menon discussed ways to advance their bilateral agenda over the coming year, including the implementation of initiatives launched during the summit, as well as building new platforms for partnership that fulfill the promise of their global strategic partnership.
On Friday, Hilary Clinton, US Secretary of State, hosted a lunch for Menon, who is here to review the implementation of initiatives launched during the US president’s visit to India in November and discuss developments in US-India bilateral relationship in preparation for their Strategic Dialogue in New Delhi in April.
