American actor and musician, Johnny Depp, known for his eccentric roles in a wide variety of dramatic and fantasy films, has recently revealed that he has bought a new house in the Italian city of Venice.
According to MSN News, the star bought this house because he fell in love with the city while filming his new movie, The Tourist, opposite Angelina Jolie.
In an interview, he said that he truly experienced Venice in the night, between 10 pm and 2 am, when streets were closed and he was able to walk around and experience the poetry of Venice in all those wonderful alleys.
He added that Venice is a purely magical city and is a great experience for an actor to have been able to feature in a movie that has been filmed in such a mysterious city.
It was reported that an Arab prince was showing interest in the purchase of the palace and the actor out bid the prince to earn the rights of the palace. The home is called Palazzo Dona Sangiantoffetti, is located on the Grand Canal, and cost the actor $13.5 million. There are so many available palazzi on both the left and right side of the Grand Canal and many of them have been turned into museums.
Depp also owns property in Hawaii, England, Hollywood, an island in the Bahamas and a French farmhouse.
