Yale University reported the nuclear meltdowns at the Fukushima power plant following the Japanese tsunami a year ago has made Americans more doubtful of nuclear power. Surveys which were conducted in May 2011 after the Japan tsunami and subsequent nuclear meltdowns in Fukushima revealed more negativity toward nuclear power than surveys taken in 2005 before the disaster. Support for new nuclear power plants also dropped 6 percentage points as compared to 2010.

The Taliban on Monday declared for revenge after an American soldier allegedly shot to death 16 civilians in southern Afghanistan and burned their bodies, an attack that has fueled anger still simmering after U.S. troops burned Qurans last month. U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan have increased security after the shootings Sunday in Kandahar province out of concern about retaliatory attacks. Apple unveiled its much-anticipated third-generation iPad with a bunch of new features in San Francisco on Wednesday.
The new iPad comes with a high-definition screen with the resolution of the display was 2,048 by 1,536 pixels, driven by faster processing chip powered by a new A5X chip with improved graphics performance.
Tim Cook, the chief executive of the company claimed to have redefined once again the category Apple created. Â The new iPad also features a 5MP camera sensor and will be able to run on 4G LTE networks where the service is available and also act as a Wi-Fi hotspot for other devices if carriers allow the function.

President of the United States Barack Obama said that it is a big mistake to think that the America could take any military action against Syrian regime and that there is a simple solution to the crisis there.

Police said that dozens of angry protestors were arrested at the California Capitol in Sacramento late Monday during a protest over hikes and budget cuts at California’s public universities.
Authorities said that hundreds of students and many other people marched on the statehouse and rallied outside the Capitol before many of the activists moved the demonstration inside the building, blockage hallways in and around the rotunda.
Local media reported that the one group chanted slogans “no cuts, no fees, education must be free”, as they sat crossed-legged on the black-and-white tiled floor of the statehouse.

An electrical short circuit caused a series of explosion at the ammunition depot killed more than 200 people and wounded about 2,000 on Sunday morning in the Republic of Congo’s capital.
A government official said that the explosions occurred shortly after 8am on Sunday in Brazzaville, when a fire at the ammunition depot set off a cache of tank shells. Government spokesman Bienvenu Okiemy said that at least 206 people had been confirmed dead by Monday morning, and many bodies may be un-findable.

On Friday, at least 28 people were killed in a series of the powerful storm and tornadoes that moved across the United States.
Authorities said that a devastating storm system hit hard the US states of Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, added that at least 15 people killed across Indiana.
John Gordon, a meteorologist at US National Weather Service (NWS) said on Friday’s afternoon that the agency had about half a dozen reports of tornadoes on the ground, and also reports of large damage.

On Tuesday, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said that his team is prepared to go to trial against BP Plc over the mammoth Gulf of Mexico oil spill next week and advised there could be developments on the criminal investigation in the coming months.
The civil trial over the Macondo well blowout was set to start this week yet was delayed until March 5 as BP tries to reach a settlement with tens of thousands of businesses and individuals affected by the disaster.

Homicide detectives in Georgia are in the middle of an investigation Sunday after a woman was discovered dead inside a home.
The 43-year-old woman's husband is being named as a person of interest in her death, WSB-TV reported. He is claiming that a group of Japanese men broke into the home, raped her and then strangled her.
Her body was discovered shortly after 2:00 a.m. Sunday by police who responded to a call for help at the home in Decatur, about six miles east of Atlanta.
A source told WSB that police discovered blood in the living room -- where the body was found -- and close to the kitchen.
