Italian emergency officials said they are calling off a search for missing people in the part of the Costa Concordia cruise ship that is submerged, because of the danger to rescue workers.
Italy's Civil Protection agency stated Tuesday that technical studies gave an indication that the deformed hull of the ship created too many safety concerns to keep on with the search. It stated that relatives and diplomatic officials representing the countries of the missing have been informed of the decision.
The Concordia hit ground off the island of Giglio on Jan. 13 when the captain deviated from his planned route and hit a reef, that created a h

Lance Cpl. Jacob Jacoby did admit to punching and kicking fellow Marine Harry Lew (pictured) before Lew committed suicide, and has been sentenced to 30 days in jail. Jacoby, who pleaded guilty to the assault, will also find his rank reduced to private first class.
Prosecutors withdrew the additional charges that Jacoby humiliated and threatened Lew, and the judge in Jacoby's court-martial said she saw no evidence that Jacoby's actions were a cause Lew's suicide. Two others who are also accused in the hazing case face court-martials, the AP reports.
